Violet Oil Beetle

Well I’ve never seen one of these before! What a beauty!

I was out on the Trans Pennine Trail near Penistone when I noticed a rather large critter crittering about the side of the path.

The colours were so intense, I wish I had a glaze that could mimic them!

I took a photo to find out what species they were. Turns out they’re a Violet Oil Beetle!

Nature really is the gift that keeps on giving!
